Manx Cat Breed - Temperament

Manx Cat Watching Manx Cat Breed Manx Cat Breed

Personality

The Manx is a friendly, affectionate, loyal breed. It is known for its keen intelligence and personable nature. Some Manx are truly one-person cats; it can be difficult to re-home those cats, as they do not do well being moved from one owner to another. However, other Manx are very family-oriented and thrive when given attention from any visitor or family-member.

Activity Level

Manx are more active than some cats of other stocky domestic feline breeds. They are playful, athletic and agile, traits that are accentuated by their powerful, well-developed hindquarters. It has been said that Manx are the feline sport cars of the cat world, with their fast acceleration and quick turns. They have an unusual ability to leap to great lengths and jump to great heights. It is not uncommon to find a Manx perched high atop the tallest piece of furniture or other feature in a room, such as a high window sill or book shelf or the top of a grandfather clock.

Behavioral Traits

Manx can be quite dog-like in behavior. They seem to enjoy games of fetch, are proficient retrievers and frequently bury their toys in pillows, blankets, piles of clothes or other secret hiding places. Manx kittens are especially precocious. With its personable disposition, unusual appearance and endearing behavioral traits, the Manx makes a wonderful household companion.
